Recorded on: July 25, 2018
The legal process is daunting for the majority of victims of sexual violence and the risk of re-traumatization is high as the individual is expected to recall and retell their deeply personal stories in detail. Due to the way the brain processes traumatic events, victims are often seen as unreliable, inconsistent, and in the worst cases, deceptive or fraudulent. Using a trauma-informed framework, this webinar will provide context for victim behaviour as well as the interpersonal skills and strategies used to increase the chance of a successful working relationship with a victim of sexual or interpersonal violence.
