Drew's presentation starts at 03:50.
The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) Act received Royal Assent in June 2021, requiring the federal government to ensure that the laws of Canada be made consistent with UNDRIP and affirming UNDRIP as an important source for interpreting Canadian law. Among its 46 Articles, UNDRIP includes rights respecting lands, territories, and resources.
In this webinar, Drew Lafond of MLT Aikins (Saskatoon) will discuss UNDRIP in the context of resource development. Drew advises clients on matters related to economic development, assists Indigenous clients in a variety of areas, including land management, and is a frequent speaker on topics related to Indigenous business and economic development.
