“The day will begin with a discussion from a Certified Professional Accountant discussing considerations of blended family and farming corporations. Next, learn about the tax changes to testamentary trusts and the impact of TOSI rules in trust planning from an experienced trust lawyer. Following the refreshment break, a panel discussion featuring the head of the MAID program as well as a local practitioner will discuss the new assisted dying legislation and its implications.
Upon returning from the lunch break, the seminar will cover information about the Public Guardian and Trustee’s Office, what are their policies and processes, who has access to information and freezing of accounts, among other topics. A presentation on the Intestate Succession Act will follow. The day will finish with an update from the Law Society on joint retainers, tips about how to avoid complaints, and a refresher on the Professional Conduct Code”
